Quote Day : Frank N Furter (Tim Curry)
“Don’t dream it, be it”
-Frank N Furter
This is another quote for all of my author friends, because what I take from this quote (as silly as it may be) is that dreaming about worlds and stories is wonderful, but in order to accomplished those dreams you have to do it. You have to find the time in your crazy maddening world to jot down those dreams and actively try and make them a reality
Now I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey in explaining why this quote is important for me. From the day I was born, I’ve always been a little off from most people. I tended to follow my own trends and patterns and while all of my friends were going one way, it seemed as if I took a jump to the left. It was in the weirdness of my adolescent days that I found one of my most beloved films of all time: The Rocky Horror Picture Show. This film taught me to always be myself, no matter what others thought, said or did. This is a concept that I have kept with me into my adult years, and now apply to my writing. There are many days where I find it astounding, how time is fleeting and madness can take its toll. It is in this madness that I find myself concocting strange stories of all types and furiously taking them down on everything from napkins to my own hands. I truly believe that there is no crime in giving yourself over to pleasure, and in our hectic lives, stoping to indulge in our passions are ultimately what keep us sane. Every now and again, due to nostalgia, I watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show in order to remind myself of my dreams and because after all a mental mind fuck can be nice. This movie truly changed my outlook on life and because of it I will until the end of my days, forever be a regular Frankie fan.
***Just so you all know there are a total of seven quotes from the movie, not including the quote “Don’t dream it, be it”…I dare you to find them!***
