When I publish a book, my anxiety levels immediately sky rocket. What if people hate it?
From the moment you push “publish” you instantly pull up Amazon and Goodreads and continuously hit “refresh” until the first review is posted. You’re making dinner, refresh, refresh, refresh. You’re playing video games, refresh, refresh, refresh. (I feel like theres some sort of joke here…though I’m not brave enough to venture into that)
The second you see the “you have 1 review” notification, your heart speeds up. It’s always a wonderful feeling when that first review is positive. It just brings a smile to your face and you finally exhale that breath that you’ve been holding for the last few hours.
Well, Curiosity and The Hounds of Arawn’s first review is in and I can’t stop smiling. I’m like a parent who’s kid was chosen first on the baseball team! I look forward to all of the reviews (good and bad) that will come in the future, they help me grow as an author…or at least thats what my wife says when she reads me a less than glowing review…but at least I am off to a fantastic start!
